Sectional Over, Next up!
May 22, 2023
LONGEST DAY!
Thanks to everyone who played in the Sectional tournament last weekend. We had a
good turnout and a lot of fun. Now for our next special event: The Longest Day (TLD).
The summer solstice (June 21) is sometimes called the “longest day” because it is the
day with the most light. Each year during the week of the solstice, bridge players come
together to fight the darkness of Alzheimer's Disease by playing in special ACBL-sanctioned games.
The proceeds of those games go directly to the Alzheimer's Association.
ACBL is an inaugural partner of The Longest Day charity, and over the last 10 years
bridge players have raised more than $8.5 million dollars for the research, care, and
support efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.
The Burlington Bridge Club will sponsor two TLD games: the 499er game on June 22,
and the Open game on Sunday, June 25. We hope you will wear purple (the TLD theme
color) and participate in one or both of those games. If you can't participate in person,
please consider making a separate donation online. To do so, click
